Our identity

Risk and Resilience Assessment Center

The Risk and Resilience Assessment Center (RiskAC), known in Greek as Κέντρο Εκτίμησης Διακινδύνευσης και Ανθεκτικότητας (ΚΕΔΙΑΚ-ΠΑΜΘ), is hosted by Democritus University of Thrace at the Kimmeria campus in Xanthi, Greece.

An interdisciplinary research effort

The research effort was established around ten interdisciplinary teams, bringing together experienced and early-career researchers. It involves researchers from Democritus University of Thrace, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and collaborators from ITSAK and engineering seismology.

Collect and analyse

We bring together and analyse data on natural and technological hazards in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

Scenarios and consequences

We develop scenarios and examine potential consequences for society, infrastructure, the environment and economic activity.

Knowledge for stakeholders

We communicate findings to stakeholders, making assumptions, limitations and uncertainty explicit.

RiskAC

Scientific evidence informs decisions. Responsibility for decisions remains with the competent authority.

Our work supports prevention, preparedness and adaptation. Transparency about data quality and the limits of each analysis is part of that mission.

Scientific leadership

Ioannis M. Dokas, Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at DUTH, is the Principal Investigator. His work concerns systems safety and resilience.

The original project description records 80 personnel positions, including 53 for early-career researchers. These figures describe the project’s staffing structure, not a current staff roster.
